Post by Catwoman » Sun Dec 04, 2016 3:48 pm

Special thanks to @Garwayne for providing me with the alternative prompts for the Verizon welcome screen.
--------------------------------
WARNING: ALL OF YOUR DATA WILL BE ERASED. Follow the steps to backup your info.

Additional Notes: This Tutorial also removes ADB scripts from your phone, like the used for the Note 7 Update Blocker.

Tools You Will Need
-Windows or Mac PC
-USB Type C Cable
-Note 7

Files to Download to your PC
-Samsung Smart Switch for [Windows] or [Mac]

Prepare your Note 7:
-Remove your SIM and SD card from your Note 7
-On your Note 7, go to Settings---> Developer Options---> Scroll down and turn on USB Debugging, OEM Unlock and Verify Apps via USB. If you do not have Developers Option, click [here] for instructions.
-Turn on Samsung Smart Switch program and back up your phone.
-Go to Settings---> Accounts or Clouds and Accounts--> Backup and reset---> Factory data reset---> Yes
-Your Note 7 will restart and you will go through the Welcome setup as if you are turning on your phone for the first time.

Welcome Prompts:
Your next goal will be to get to the Home Screen without connecting to Wifi or a Network becasue as soon as you connect to the internet, the Samsung OTA update will try to install. For every prompt you get choose: SKIP/SKIP ANYWAY/EXIT/No, thank you/AGREE

Welcome Screen---> Choose Language---> START
-A notice will briefly show up saying that there is no SIM card and then it will go away.
________________________

Connect to Network---> Use WiFi---> Make sure WiFi is off and then choose SKIP
OR
Wifi---> Turn off WiFi by moving the circular knob from the right to the left. It should now say Off---> NEXT---> Notice will show up letting you know why should connect to Wifi, tap SKIP ANYWAY
________________________

Term and Conditions---> Optional to check or uncheck box for Diagnostic data---> NEXT---> AGREE
________________________

Name--- Enter your First and Last name---> NEXT
________________________

Protect your phone---> Choose: No, thank you---> SKIP---> SKIP ANYWAY
________________________

Google Service---> Optional to check or un-check boxes to provide diagnostics to google. Scroll down for additional diagnostic options---> NEXT
________________________

Depending on your carrier, it will not try to setup/transfer services. The screens are different but the method is the same, SKIP/EXT set up to connect to network, wifi, or transfer data.
Get your content---> Choose: SKIP
________________________

YOU ARE NOW IN THE HOME SCREEN. :D

Turn off auto updates:
Go to Settings---> Lock screen and security---> Other security settings---> Security policy updates---> Auto update----> Make sure knob is to the left in the off position.
OR
Go to Settings---> System Update---> Download updates automatically---> Make sure knob is to the left in the off position.
________________________

Do not insert your SD card or SIM card into your Note 7.

Now you need follow the steps to protect your phone from being hit by the update again. Follow the instructions below. You will need Windows PC for the next steps.

My updater gives me 30 seconds before it forces the update. I reckon a factory reset should help?
